Meet the Doctor

 Perry Bushong D.D.S.

Born and raised in Texas, Perry J. Bushong II graduated from Texas A&M University, where he received a B.S. Degree in Genetics in 1997. He then went on to do research at the Cancer Therapy and Research Center in San Antonio. Afterward, he received an MBA from the University of Texas in Austin. Dr. Perry Bushong decided to combine his technology and life sciences background with a career in Dentistry so he attended the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio for his DDS degree. Dr. Bushong also completed his private pilot’s license in 2020.

He graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio with Accomplishments and Awards in:
• Senior Esthetic Dentistry Award (2 awarded per graduating dental class).
• Teaching Excellence Honors
• The American Association of Endodontists Certificate of Merit (1 award per graduating dental class for root canal excellence).
• Completion of the Annual Preceptorship in Dental Implantology at UTHSCSA which includes hands-on training for implant surgical and restorative techniques. 

As a general dentist, practicing in San Antonio, TX, Dr. Perry Bushong remains active in his professional community and is a proud member of the American Dental Assocation, the Texas Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentisty, and International Congress of Oral Implantology as well as his local dental society.  Dr. Bushong holds certifications in conscious sedation dentistry level I and level II and III which includes nitrous oxide (laughing gas), oral sedation and IV sedation, in order to provide different sedation options for his patients, if they choose.

In his spare time, Dr. Perry Bushong enjoys scuba diving, fishing, shooting, flying real airplanes and building model airplanes, & traveling.  In addition to being an aviation enthusiast, Dr. Bushong is also an avid motorcycle sidecar collector and rider. He is married to a general dentist, who has been practicing for over 22 years. When they are not doing dentistry, they are doing family-related activities with their three children in the San Antonio community. They also have a Yorkshire Terrier-Daschund mix dog.


Since you ask! The origination of the Bushong name…

The American surname, Bushong and variant Bushon, prior to being anglicized, was the German-Swiss name, Boschung. The spelling was changed after immigration to Colonial America in 1732. Dr. Bushong is the 9th generation of Bushong born in America.
