At Dominion Dental Spa, we understand the importance of both dental health and the cosmetics of a beautiful smile.  Straight teeth are not only beautiful, they are actually healthier.  To give our patients the benefit of a healthy, beautiful smile, we are proud to offer Invisalign clear orthodontic treatment through computer iTero digital scanning

How Does Invisalign work at Dominion Dental Spa ?

1)  Request an Appointment letting us know you are interested

2)  We take Computer Digital Scans and photos of your smile

3)  You will see before and after Invisalign 3-D computer-generated models of your teeth before treatment is started

4)  After talking with our dentist, you may approve your case outcome, and immediately start your Invisalign braces and be in your first set of trays typically within a couple weeks

At Dominion Dental Spa, an exact replica of your teeth is obtained through our iTero intraoral digital scanner.  You do not have to have gooey dental impressions, which are messy and can cause gagging.  The 3D scan from the iTero is digitally sent to Invisalign's orthodontic lab.

During your Invisalign consultation with Dr. Perry Bushong, he will create a virtual 3D form on the computer so you will see the before and after Invisalign clear aligners treatment proposed.  In complex cases you may have more than one option. We believe the best patients are well-informed patients, and the best dentists allow you to be involved in the outcome.  This virtual model of your teeth is used to communicate back and forth between your dentist and the orthodontic lab technician to achieve the desired results.  You have the opportunity to approve your treatment and visualize the best Invisalign dentistry outcome that fits your needs with the doctor.

Invisalign uses three-dimensional digital technology to design on a computer a series of plastic clear aligners or invisible braces.  The clear orthodontic braces or aligners are then fabricated using CAD/CAM technology and sent to our office.  These clear braces aligners use carefully prescribed forces to move the teeth.  Because the material is clear and fits the teeth intimately, Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible.

How Is Invisalign Healthy?

Straightening your teeth without unsightly metal brackets and wires is not just a cosmetic issue.  Of course, clear Invisalign orthodontic aligners are less noticeable and virtually invisible, making it a great option for adults who don't want people to know they are in orthodontic treatment.   The brackets and wires of traditional orthodontic treatment contain countless nooks and crannies for the buildup of plaque and bacteria.  Many patients can develop gum disease and even cavities while in traditional metal braces if home care or hygiene visits are not maintained.

Because Invisalign aligners are removable, they allow you to clean and floss your teeth more effectively during orthodontic treatment.  With these nearly invisible braces, you simply remove the aligners in order to brush and floss and use mouthrinse.  By keeping your teeth clean, you can lower your risk for cavities and gum disease while you straighten your teeth.  Eating with traditional metal braces often causes impaction or retention of food.  This food debris also increases the risk for cavities and gum disease.  The aligners are worn 22 hours a day and are removed for eating and drinking anything besides water.  This means there is no hardware to catch food debris as with braces.

The end result of Invisalign is a healthier, easier-to-clean mouth.  Straight teeth with less crowding, less spacing between teeth and better alignment with fewer “hiding spots” for plaque and bacteria.  Teeth that have been straightened are much easier to clean with your toothbrush and floss.

How is Invisalign Cosmetic?

Invisalign is effective in correcting many misalignments of teeth.  Invisalign repositions teeth through the use of small, carefully-directed movements that are safe and maintain the health of the jawbone.

  • Crowded teeth, crooked or overlapped teeth

  • Rotated teeth

  • Uneven teeth

  • Gaps in Teeth or spacing

  • Crossbites (when one or more lower teeth protrudes outside the upper teeth, instead of fitting underneath as they should)

  • Overbite, Underbite

  • Prior History of having orthodontics and teeth have shifted since

  • Not wearing an orthodontic retainer

All of the above conditions can be corrected and realigned with Invisalign.  The end result is a smile with straight teeth that are properly positioned in the dental arch.

How Long Does Invisalign Take?

Invisalign clear orthodontic treatment is uniquely customized to each patient’s individual needs.  Treatment time will be different for each person.  Average treatment time for an adult with mild to moderate crowding or spacing is 4-12 months. Some patients may need longer times depending on their bite and simpler cases can be completed in just a few weeks.
